Abstract. The paper presents the results of studying the acoustic wave velocity in sheets-billets made of thermally expanded graphite of different thickness and average density, obtained using the shadow acoustic method based on measuring the passage time of an acoustic pulse in a sample. Studies have shown that an increase in the density of the sample leads to an increase in the velocity of the acoustic wave in it. The influence of defects on the value of the average acoustic wave velocity is also shown, while less dense defects in samples lead to a decrease in velocity and vice versa. The error in measuring the acoustic wave velocity was 0.4-2.2 %.
