Effect of Sheet Wall Thickness on Displacement Diagrams of Normal Lamb Waves

Abstract. Theoretical studies of the effect of thickness and operating frequency on displacement diagrams in sheets for symmetric and antisymmetric modes of normal Lamb waves are carried out. Recommendations for choosing the optimal force action of the transducer to achieve maximum efficiency when measuring the sheet wall thickness are offered. Thus, for the A0 mode, the displacement component WA0 prevails over UA0 over the entire range of relative plate thickness. And for the S0 mode with a relative thickness of ktd ≥ 1,8, the WS0 offset prevails over US0.
